Application Process
Impact100 Newport County awards grants to nonprofits in our community that address the focus area stipulated in our Eligibility Criteria.
Member volunteers review and score Letters of Intent based on 4 criteria before selecting a subset of organizations to complete a full grant application:
1. Overall mission, vision of organization
2. Meeting unique need in the community
3. Proposed use of grant dollars
4. Shows clear programming specific to the focus area identified each year.
Important Dates
October 31, 2025: Letters of Inquiry (LOIs) Due
November 1, 2025: “Big Reveal”. Amount/# of $100,000 grants announced
November 2025: Grant Writing Workshops (Dates TBD)
December 1, 2025: Grant Applications Open
January 5, 2026: Grant Applications Due
January – April, 2026: Grant Review and Site Visits
April 15, 2026: Finalists Announced
May 15, 2026: Voting Event for Finalists, Recipient(s) Announced.
These dates may be subject to change.
All stages of the grant review process are conducted entirely by current members of Impact100 Newport County.
Focus Areas
Arts, Culture & Historic Preservation
Cultivate, develop and preserve the artistic, cultural, and historic character of our community.
Environment, Recreation & Animal Welfare
Conserve, restore, or improve the natural environment, provide enhanced recreational opportunities, or promote the welfare of animals.
Health & Wellness
Improve the physical and/or mental health and wellness of the people in our community.
Education
Improve educational opportunities for children and/or adults, especially those that address lingering educational disparities affecting our community.
Family
Strengthen and enhance the lives of children and families, including seniors.
Our Focus Area Grant Committees ultimately select five finalists, one in each focus area, to compete for the available Impact Grants at our Annual Meeting.
Eligibility Requirements
- Defined as a tax-exempt public charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code
- Organizations serving the Newport County area
- In possession of at least three full years (36 months) of independently prepared, audited, or reviewed financial statements

No, each organization may submit only one grant application per year and must address the Focus Area described in the criteria.
